As somone who spent years perfecting a creative portfolio. Worked on running the social media for London chain hotel brand. And, ran a hostel. These are what I’d look for when selecting a Creator for my hostel.
(you don’t need to tick every box, but the more you do, the better your chances):
🔓 An Open Account: Sounds obvious. If your account is private, a manager can't see your work. Keep it public.
📈 Visible Stats: Show your likes and comments. Hiding them is a sign you care more about "vanity metrics" than the content you’re creating.
🗓️ A Healthy Post Count: You might be starting out, but seeing a full profile is essential. To me, this is more important than followers. Having at least 50 posts tells me you're committed and that you'll show up even when a post doesn't go viral.
🎨 Consistent Post Style: It's not about how your grid looks, but what you’re saying. What is your message? Whether it’s budget travel tips in SE Asia or best street food, stay focused.
🍜 Don't chase every trend: make the trends work for your specific niche.
📐 Clear Design: You don’t need to be a professional graphic designer, but your content should be clean. If you use text or graphics, make sure they actually help the message rather than cluttering it.
📝 A Simple Bio: Skip the travel clichés and buzzwords.
🎬 A Range of Content: Use it all—Reels, carousels, and single photos. Show you can handle different formats and that you're a versatile creator.
🌿 Authentic (sorry to say it): Your content should feel natural. It shouldn't feel overproduced.
✍️ Great Captions: Nobody likes writing them, but they show discipline. Writing thoughtful captions proves you’re willing to put in the hard work even when there's no payoff.
These are the basics I’d like to see from creators if I were picking. My advice is, give it a try. The worst they can say is no!
